Kalo - Beetle Report Writing

In Room 5 we have been learning about report writing . We have done research and a report about an animal which we found from the books in the library. Here is my report.

Report Writing

Introduction
Beetles have six legs.
They have big eyes. Beetles are insects. There are at least 300,000 kinds, or species, of Beetles. There a more kinds of Beetles than any other animal on the earth. About 40 percent of all insects are beetles.

What does a ladybug look like?
It has fat legs and it also has skinny toes. They have 12 spots on their backs. A beetle’s back is an oval shape. Under its back it has wings; the wings help the beetle fly. Beetles have fat heads and long ears. The beetles ears are called antennae.

where it lives?
Beetles live in  lots of places. They like to stay in trees, flowers and in the dirt. They like these places because it is easy to find food there.
Ending
In 1973 the people set up a law to protect the endangered animals including beetles. This is good so they can live for a long time.

Alecia - Howler Monkey report

In room 5 we have been learning about Report Writing . We have done research and a report about an animal which we found from the books in the library. Here is my report.

Introduction
A Howler is a type of monkey. There are many different species, or kinds, of monkeys. All monkeys belong to one of two groups; New World Monkeys or Old World Monkeys. Howlers are in the New World Monkey group.
Description
A Howler Monkey looks like a monkey; they have four legs and one long tail. Some have black eyes some have brown. Some Howlers look like they have big wide mouths some have small. Some look big, others look small. Most look thin but some are fat. Most have hair some have none.
Information
Howlers live in North America, Central America, South America, Mexico and South eastern Brazil. Howlers are from rain forests, thorny forests, swamp forests, misty forests high in the mountains. They are also from old-growth forests and mountain forests. It lives in trees. Howlers have leaders. We have no monkeys in New Zealand because it is cold and they will die. People have been hunting Howler Monkeys for so long, now they are endangered. They are not safe. People are now trying to look after them because they could become distinct.
Ending
Even today, scientists are discovering new species. They are gradually learning more and more about how new world monkeys live. As people get to know more about new world monkeys’ people hope that they will be protected.

Sammy - Tennis

On Tuesday Room 5 played tennis with Marcel. The first thing he said was for the girls to get a racket and a ball. He also told us to line-up on the right hand side of the net. He said the same to the boys and told them to line-up on the opposite side.

The first exercise we did was to try and roll the ball around on the racket. We then got to choose a partner to practise with. We took turns throwing and hitting the ball. After we practised, we got to play each other. Whoever won became King or Queen. I played with Kalo, Petra, Seuti, Vaine and Rosalina.

After playing we had to go back to class. Tennis was fun.

My Trip to Samoa

On Sunday night my family and I headed out on an aeroplane in the middle of the night to Samoa. When I got on the plane I was very excited. When we sat down we had to put on our seat belts so we could be safe while the plane lifted off into the sky. The plane we were on was called Air New Zealand. On Air New Zealand we had water, drinks and food. There is also a little television in front of the seat. I could watch television, play games, listen to music or watch movies. We were flying for three hours.
When we landed we had to take off our seat belts and leave the plane. When we came off the plane it was very hot. We were really tired so when we got home we went straight to sleep.
When we woke up we had to have a shower. After that when we were all ready. We went all the way to my uncle’s house. They lived in Letogo. We lived in Apia. In Letogo my uncle owns a shop and it has drinks, ice blocks and lollies. After that we went to a beach. The beach we went to is a nice sunny beach. At the beach I was shaking because the water was cold for a while. On the last day at Samoa my cousins and I stayed and helped our uncle to get more money. When we had finished we enjoyed a free ice-block from our uncle’s shop. When it was night we all headed to the airport because we had to go back to New Zealand. When we headed off onto the plane my uncle and his family had to leave. When we got to New Zealand we had breakfast at McDonalds.
When we left I felt sad because I didn’t want to leave my family.  Alecia
